Relocation Directive - APS 2014 - Chapter 10

10.01 Purpose

This chapter describes relocation benefits applicable to meet the requirements of Service Couples (SCs).

10.02 Terms CF member and service spouse

This table defines CF member and service spouse.

The CF member who is to be moving (D) HG&E is considered for the purpose of move benefits
deemed the CF member.
not deemed the service spouse.

10.03 Co-location principle

Until co-location of HG&E, both CF members are entitled to be relocated at public expense, as though they were single CF members. Once HG&E are co-located, the HG&E will not be separated at public expense.

10.04 Process chart

The Service Couple - Determination of Move Entitlements process chart follows. A CF member moving (D)HG&E who is prevented from conducting the relocation personally due to service/operational reasons, and whose spouse is not posted, may delegate the responsibility of conducting the move to the service spouse when so authorized by the BComd/BAdmO.

Is the Service Couple located in the same geographical area?

  1. Yes
    • Is the Service Couple posted to the same geographical area?
      • Yes
        (D)HG&E moved to new place of duty. Full move benefits for CF member and service spouse. The process ends until next posting.
      • No
        One or both CF members of the Service Couple are posted to different locations. The move will be authorized when the Service Couple determines who is responsible for (D) HG&E
    • Are you the member with the (D) HG&E?
      • Yes
        You are entitled to full move benefits to your new location. The process ends until next posting.
      • No
        You are entitled to an unaccompanied move plus those benefits attributable to the service spouse for HHT & ILM&M, at origin, as they relate to the move of (D) HG&E. The process ends until next posting.
  2. No
    • Is the Service Couple posted to the same geographical area?
      • Yes
        (D) HG&E moved to new place of duty. Full move benefits for CF member and service spouse. The process ends until next posting.
      • No
    • Does the Service couple want to co-locate (D) HG&E?
      • Yes
        The CF member is entitled to full move benefits to the new location. The service spouse is entitled to an unaccompanied move plus those benefits attributable to the service spouse for HHT & ILM&M, at origin, as they relate to the move of (D) HG&E. The process ends until next posting.
      • No.
        Each CF member receives full move benefits to their new location. The process ends until next posting.
