Command Chief Warrant Officer F.L. Lavoie, MMM, CD
Chief Warrant Officer Lavoie embarked on his career with the Canadian Armed Forces in 1993 as a Reservist as a Marine Technician. In 1996, he transitioned in the Regular Force as a Line Tech, joining the esteemed ranks of the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals. Following his initial training in St-Jean, he started his professional journey at the Canadian Forces School of Communication and Electronics in Kingston, setting the stage for an amazing career.
Throughout his service, CWO Lavoie has served at 2 and 5 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group as part of both 2 CMBG and 5 CMBG HQ & Sigs, 5e Régiment d’artillerie légère du Canada and 1er R22eR. He also served at Canadian Forces School of Communications and Electronics as Course Director, Line Communications Superintendent and Squadron Sergeant-major. At Canadian Forces Joint Signal Regiment, he served as Troop WO/Project Coordinator within 1 Line Squadron.
Upon promotion to CWO in 2017, he was appointed as the Regimental Sergeant Major at the Canadian Forces Joint Signal Regiment and in 2020, he was appointed as the 22nd School Chief Warrant Officer at the Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School. In 2023, CWO Lavoie was appointed as the Chief Information Operations (CIO) Group Chief.
CWO Lavoie’s was appointed as the Chief Royal Canadian Corps of Signals from 2022 to 2024. His operational deployments include three tours in Bosnia, one tour in Afghanistan as well as participations in domestic relief efforts such as the Ice Storm in Quebec in 1998. His unwavering dedication to service and leadership excellence have earned him the esteemed distinction of being a Member of the Order of Military Merit since October 2010. He is also proud to highlight that he has won the Petawawa Ironman competition twice: as a Sergeant in 2009 and as a Master Warrant Officer in 2013.
Beyond his military achievements, CWO Lavoie finds fulfillment in his family life, with his wife Anik as well as with his daughter Sandrine and son Julien. His hobbies include trying to stay fit, woodwork and washing his cars.
He was appointed to his current position in 2024.
