Deputy Prime Minister to attend G7 and G20 Finance Ministers’ Meetings and Spring Meetings of the IMF and the World Bank in Washington, D.C.

This week, from April 12 to 14, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Honourable Chrystia Freeland, will visit Washington, D.C., to attend the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.

While in Washington, the Deputy Prime Minister will also attend meetings of G7 and G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors, as well as meetings of the International Monetary and Financial Committee.

At these meetings, the Deputy Prime Minister will work with Canada’s allies and partners to address pressing challenges affecting the Canadian and global economies, including the impacts of global inflation, Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine, disruptions to global commodity markets, and climate change.

The Deputy Prime Minister will also use these meetings to discuss with our allies the important opportunities for workers and businesses presented by the building of the global clean economy, and the role that Canada and Canadian workers can play in providing our allies with the goods and resources they need.
