Government Extends Consultation Period on Cash Purchase Tickets
News Release
May 23, 2017 - Ottawa, Ontario - Department of Finance Canada
The Government remains committed to building a fair tax system that benefits the middle class and those working hard to join it. This includes recognizing that, over time, changes in the economy have made a number of provisions in Canada's tax statutes less relevant than when they were first introduced.
It is for this reason that Budget 2017 launched a consultation on the ongoing utility, and potential elimination, of the income tax deferral available in respect of cash purchase tickets for deliveries of listed grains.
Budget 2017 invited stakeholders to provide comments on this income tax deferral, including any appropriate transitional period or rules. As specified in the budget, the consultation period was originally scheduled to end May 24, 2017.
The Department of Finance Canada today announced that the Government is extending the period of consultation on cash purchase tickets to July 24, 2017.
