Government of Canada to formally Apologize to Nine Dakota and Lakota First Nations

Whitecap Dakota Nation, SK  — Please be advised that the Honourable Gary Anandasangaree, Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations, will deliver a formal apology on behalf of the Government of Canada to the 9 Dakota and Lakota First Nations in Canada at an historic ceremony.

It will be attended by representatives from the 9 First Nations: Birdtail Sioux Dakota Nation, Canupwakpa First Nation, Dakota Plains Wahpeton Nation, Dakota Tipi, Sioux Valley Dakota Nation, Standing Buffalo Dakota Nation, Wahpeton Dakota Nation, Whitecap Dakota Nation and Wood Mountain Lakota.
