Restorative Justice Week

Restorative Justice Week has been recognized every year during the third week of November since 1996. It is an opportunity to:
- reflect on how restorative justice can be applied to daily challenges
- highlight and discuss the most recent achievements of restorative justice in Canada
- raise awareness on restorative justice, its values and its principles
- contribute to social change
National Restorative Justice Symposium
Representatives from community organizations, policymakers and restorative justice practitioners gather annually at the National Restorative Justice Symposium (NRJS) to share innovative approaches and to promote the use of restorative justice to address crime and conflict.
On November 20 and 21, 2023, the Restorative Justice Association of Manitoba (RJAM), with the support of the National Restorative Justice Symposium Planning Committee, will host the fourth virtual edition of the Symposium. This year’s theme is Inspiring Innovation: Moving Restorative Justice from Margin to Mainstream. For more information:
Engage your community
- Create a community challenge and communicate it through social media, posters, local newspapers, radio stations, or your community's website.
- Host a community or virtual event, forum or dialogue series; inviting community members as guests to engage in restorative justice discussions with your organization and partners.
- Invite politicians, Indigenous and spiritual leaders, chief of police and other community leaders to speak about how restorative justice strengthens the community and different ways to apply it throughout our society and systems.
- Encourage your city council to proclaim Restorative Justice Week with a countdown.
