Okimaw Ohci Healing Lodge is located on the Nekaneet First Nation, near Maple Creek, Saskatchewan. The Healing Lodge is 150 kilometres from the nearest large city, Medicine Hat, Alberta and over 400 kilometres from other Correctional Service Canada (CSC) facilities. The location of Okimaw Ohci Healing Lodge on the Nekaneet First Nation is unique in that Nekaneet continues to live in traditional ways. The practices, culture and values of the Nekaneet is taught to the residents. There are many traditional ceremonies at Okimaw Ohci Healing Lodge.

Okimaw Ohci Healing Lodge was opened in November 1995, built with the intention of housing incarcerated Indigenous women. The focus on "Healing" was to be the priority for Indigenous women offenders. The Lodge is guided by a 'Vision' that was developed by Elders during the planning process. The Vision speaks to the process as well as the approach to be utilized at the Lodge. The Lodge is based on the five principles identified in 'Creating Choices Task Force' which includes Empowerment, Meaningful and Responsible Choices, Respect and Dignity, Supportive Environment and Shared Responsibility.
Okimaw Ohci Healing Lodge is a multi-level standalone facility. It consists of a Main Lodge and a Spiritual Lodge that are central in facility layout design.
