Matsqui Institution

Matsqui Institution is located on the Federal Reserve land which is shared with Fraser Valley Institution and Pacific Institution. The reserve is located in the community of Abbotsford, British Columbia. Abbotsford is approximately 68 kilometres from downtown Vancouver, British Columbia.

Matsqui Institution was originally opened in 1966 as a drug dependency treatment facility for male federal inmates. In 1981, Matsqui Institution was designated as a medium security site and since then, has served as the most secure medium-security institution in the region.

Matsqui Institution is a standalone medium security facility with direct observation cell ranges.
