Electronic media
Electronic media (such as optical discs, magnetic tapes and disks, and USB flash drives and cards) hold information that may need to be kept for a lifetime. However, in order to retrieve and read this information time and time again, the owners must ensure proper storage and handling of the media and they must transfer the content to new formats, as required. The following resources provide information related to the deterioration, storage, handling and longevity of electronic media. Advice on how to transfer analogue audio and video recordings to digital formats is also provided to ensure equipment obsolescence does not lead to loss of content.
