Biography

Alireza Farrokhi

Alireza Farrokhi holds a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering and a M.Sc. in Heritage Conservation. Following a decade of experience working in the private sector in the preservation, restoration and rehabilitation of historic buildings and sites, Alireza joined the Government of Alberta’s Ministry of Culture (now the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Status of Women) in 2011 and contributed to the conservation and management of hundreds of historic resources. As the Manager of Conservation and Construction Services, he undertook several initiatives to establish documentation and condition assessment protocols for the management of the resources in his portfolio.

Alireza is a strong advocate for heritage training and education. He has been instrumental in building capacity in the field, partly through his work with several educational institutions. He has provided meaningful opportunities for faculty and research groups by bringing together neighbouring discipline communities to spark collaborative research and to reach practical solutions for real-world problems founded on academic rigour.

Alireza joined the Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI) in 2023 to manage the Heritage Places Conservation Division and to contribute to CCI’s mandate pertaining to the conservation of built heritage.
