Internships in the arts, culture, identity and civic participation sectors

From: Canadian Heritage

The internship program in the arts, culture, identity and civic participation sectors is part of the 2023-2028 Action Plan. This new program will not only ensure the commitment of the next generation of artists and cultural workers, but will also provide training for the next generation, as well as alleviating the labour shortage that is severely affecting these sectors.

The program will help address the priority issue of the labour shortage in official language minority communities, while offering young Francophones and Francophiles in Canada unique experiential learning opportunities in their own communities, in fast-growing sectors based on their career goals, interests and aptitudes.

Who can apply

This program is aimed at students and graduates as well as Francophone and Francophile newcomers, including those living in Quebec, who meet the program's eligibility criteria. Recruitment of interns should favour both artists and cultural workers and people from diverse backgrounds.

To be eligible for funding, an applicant must meet all of the following requirements:

  • be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians on temporary employment visas or awaiting permanent resident status are not eligible)
  • be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the time the internship begins
  • be committed to working for the duration of the internship
  • be a student or graduate
