Approximately 38 kilograms of suspected cocaine seized at the Ambassador Bridge

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), Southern Ontario Region, in conjunction with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Windsor Detachment, are committed to the safeguarding of our country and keeping contraband goods, such as narcotics, from reaching our communities.

On March 17, 2020, CBSA officers at the Ambassador Bridge seized approximately 38 kilograms of suspected cocaine from a commercial load. The CBSA estimates the value of the suspected cocaine at over $4.8 million dollars.

A commercial truck, with two Ontario residents, a driver and co-driver, entered Canada through the Ambassador Bridge in Windsor, Ontario, and was referred for a secondary examination. During the examination, border services officers discovered suspected cocaine within a mixed commercial load of citrus fruit.

The CBSA arrested the two individuals and seized the suspected narcotics. The RCMP attended and took custody of both subjects as well as the evidence.

The RCMP charged 31-year-old Sukdeep Singh of Brampton, Ontario, and 26-year-old Inderjeet Singh of Lindsay, Ontario, with:

Importation of a controlled substance, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act; and
Possession for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The subjects are scheduled in court on June 8, 2020, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor, Ontario.

The investigation is ongoing.
