July 19, 2016    Niagara Falls, Ontario               Canada Border Services Agency

Southern Ontario Region border services officers are diligently working to protect Canadians by preventing inadmissible people and prohibited goods such as guns, weapons and drugs from entering the country. During the month of June, officers intercepted and seized 22 guns, over $222,600 of undeclared currency, and made 153 drug seizures.

On June 18, officers, along with assistance from the detector dog team, located boxes of male enhancement pills in the walls of a van at the Peace Bridge. The pills were found in the van’s rear quarter panel, both driver and passenger side doors, rear tailgate, under the hood, and in the spare tire. The driver, a Canadian resident, was arrested. In total 45 boxes containing 994 individual packages of male enhancement pills were seized. CBSA Criminal Investigation’s charged the traveller under the Customs Act with false statements, wilful evasion and attempting to smuggle, and issued him a court appearance notice for September 8.
