Government of Canada investments support modernized equipment, increased productivity and safety

Rural based businesses in P.E.I. continue to compete and reach new markets with high quality products. These companies also create vital employment opportunities for Islanders and add to Atlantic Canada’s reputation as an ideal home base to build a sustainable business. The Government of Canada understands the importance of helping businesses adapt, modernize, and compete globally to fuel regional local economies.

Supporting long-term growth

Today, Bobby Morrissey, Member of Parliament for Egmont announced a total repayable investment of $1,514,665 in 5 businesses based in Western P.E.I. through ACOA’s Regional Economic Growth through Innovation (REGI) program. The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Gudie Hutchings, Minister of Rural Economic Development and Minister responsible for ACOA.

Investments in state-of the art equipment and facility upgrades will allow these companies to meet increased consumer demand, improve efficiencies, and develop new products. For the full list of projects, please see backgrounder.
