Dartmouth-based firm develops, commercializes and markets its remote monitoring technology

Innovation is a key economic driver in Atlantic Canada, generating new opportunities for increased international trade, sustainable economic growth, and creating well-paying jobs for the middle class. Rimot (pronounced “Ree-mote”), a Dartmouth-based startup, is set to increase its workforce and explore new international markets for its advanced remote monitoring technology.

Rimot offers monitoring-as-a-service to keep remote critical infrastructure working for business and government organizations. The company provides turnkey remote monitoring to maximize reliability of critical equipment in the field and minimize its downtime, maintenance costs, and risk. Rimot’s real-time analytics provide organizations with digital operational data to address problems quickly or avoid them.

Darren Fisher, Member of Parliament for Dartmouth-Cole Harbour, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), announced support for the project today.

Economic growth and the creation of good jobs for Atlantic Canadians require innovation and diversification. Support for this project is one way the Government of Canada is growing the innovation economy by working to sustain strategic clusters, as well as enhance the development and reach of business accelerators and incubators. Projects like this also contribute to the Atlantic Growth Strategy outcome of long-term economic prosperity in the region.

  • RimotRF is the first turnkey service for the monitoring of remote transmitter sites and equipment, including weather and lightning.

  • Last month, Rimot was one of the final eleven Atlantic ventures to compete in the Creative Destruction Lab in Toronto.

  • This project will create new jobs in data analytics, IoT systems engineering, and marketing and sales.

  • The Government of Canada invested a $600,000 repayable contribution in this project through the Regional Economic Growth through Innovation (REGI) program.

  • The Business Scale-up and Productivity stream of the REGI program supports businesses at various stages of development, including high-growth firms, to accelerate their growth, help them scale up and enhance their productivity and competitiveness in both domestic and global markets.
