Groupe Savoie Inc. Adds a New Production Line to Meet Demand
News Release
Block pallet production line expected to create 40 new full-time jobs in Saint-Quentin
April 22, 2016 – Saint-Quentin, NB – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA)
Groupe Savoie, a leading producer of a wide-range of high quality hardwood products, has expanded its Saint-Quentin operations to branch out into block pallet production thanks to investments from the federal and provincial governments.
René Arseneault, Member of Parliament for Madawaska-Restigouche, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for ACOA, and the Honourable Brian Gallant, Premier of New Brunswick, joined Groupe Savoie officials in Saint-Quentin today to announce government support for the expansion project.
ACOA is providing a repayable contribution of $1 million towards the project through its Business Development Program while the Province of New Brunswick is contributing a payroll rebate of $500,000, a forgivable loan of $250,000, as well as a $500,000 repayable loan through Opportunities NB.
The project consisted of expanding the existing facility and installing pallet manufacturing equipment so the company can begin making block pallets out of aspen, a relatively underused wood source.
