Highland Park - Salisbury, NB

The Town of Salisbury is celebrating its 250th anniversary this year by rolling out the red carpet to visitors and residents alike with significant improvements at Highland Park, the Town’s primary gathering space.  These projects will increase space for community gatherings, enhance and extend the outdoor tourism season, and provide new opportunities to showcase arts and cultural events.

ACOA supported the construction of a modern and accessible outdoor performing arts amphitheatre at Highland Park, through the Tourism Growth Program, which will accommodate the needs of the community to host their performing arts community and enable the Town to grow its annual festivals and events.

“The construction of the amphitheatre and other upgrades will continue bringing residents and visitors to Highland Park,” said His Worship Robert Campbell, Salisbury Mayor. “From the introduction of new events to enhancements to existing events, whether it's Family Day and the annual Pumpkin Walk or anything in between, the amphitheatre will improve our offerings on a year-round basis. As we celebrate our region's 250th anniversary of permanent settlement, we look forward to completing this new asset and using this milestone to envision future assets to the park.”

This project represents a strategic investment aimed at revitalizing a community by supporting its outdoor tourism strategy, drawing increased tourism visitation year round. By attracting people and investment to the area, the improvements at Highland Park will increase the economic development capacity of the Town of Salisbury.

Salisbury CAO Austin Henderson emphasized the importance of ACOA’s role in helping the community. “The Town is appreciative of ACOA’s support for this project, which is essential in making it come to fruition. By recognizing the importance of investing in rural tourism and community development, ACOA is an essential partner to projects of this nature from the planning to execution.”
