Digital Nexus

The Digital Nexus initiative aims to increase digital literacy and data adoption across the Canadian Army (CA) in accordance with its Digital Strategy. It provides resources to enable the workforce to find, critique, and analyze data in support of decision-making.

Microsoft Enterprise Skills Initiative

The Department of National Defence is partnering with Microsoft to invest in the professional growth of Defence Team members. The Microsoft Enterprise Skills Initiative (ESI) provides hands-on training for a variety of Microsoft products. Moreover, Defence Team members can obtain industry-recognized certifications in Office 365, Azure, Power Platforms and Dynamics 365. Choose options that best fit your learning style, and advance your technical skills while earning achievements or preparing for a Microsoft certification.

Offerings

  • Microsoft Learn. Find online learning paths that combine short, step-by-step tutorials, browser-based, interactive coding and scripting environments, and task-based achievements.
  • Microsoft Virtual Training Days. These one-day digital events with live-chat moderators cover fundamentals and advanced topics for Azure, Dynamics 365, security.
  • Microsoft-Delivered Courses. Live, hands-on, instructor-led training on consecutive days or in a blended experience across multiple weeks that includes chalk talks, self-study, and community engagement.

Registration

  • Navigate to the ESI Learner Experience Portal (LxP)
  • Log in using your cloud account (i.e. name@ecn.forces.gc.ca). If you are not prompted to link your work email account, you can do so under the Settings tab.
  • On first login, select your preferences for language, time zone, and role.

Canada School of Public Service (CSPS) Digital Academy

The Canada School of Public Service (CSPS) Digital Academy supports public servants and CAF members through a suite of courses that introduce foundational digital mindsets, skills and tools. Courses have a focus on combining new skills in digital/data, and were designed with a focus on their application within the Government of Canada.

The Discover Series

As one of the School's business lines, the Digital Academy supports public servants and CAF members at all stages of their learning and career progression through the Discover Series.

Courses Description
Discover Digital Demystifies the work of government in a digital era by examining the impact of large-scale technological change on how government functions and provides internal and external services.
Discover Data Aims to develop data competencies in support of data-literate workforce, create a common language around data, and create a community of like-minded, mutually supportive individuals.
Discover Agile Offers an overview of what it means to create an agile culture and apply its tools and practices in the Government of Canada.
Discover Cloud Provides foundational knowledge on cloud computing, including an overview of the opportunities, applications, and limitations of cloud computing, and the ways to set up proper architecture and infrastructure.
Discover Cyber Security Covers foundational concepts of cyber security, including best practices to help you stay safe online.
Discover Trending Technology Topics Takes you through the opportunities and limitations, as well as the policy implications, beyond the hype of what’s new in the digital space.

Registration

  • Navigate to the CSPS site;
  • Choose your preferred language;
  • Click ‘Sign in’ on the top right of the screen;
  • Create an account or sign in with your existing CSPS account;
  • Navigate to the CSPS Learning catalogue on the top left of the screen;
  • Search for the desired course or select the Digital, data and design topic;
  • Select your course, register and launch the course!

Note that some course might have pre-requisite to complete to be able to register.

The Digital Transformation Office’s Data Literacy Roadmap

The Data Literacy Roadmap (available on DWAN only) provides a learning pathway based on your role and level of data literacy. It details learning opportunities from both internal and external providers, organized by topic and level of complexity.

A monthly updated lists of instructor-led scheduled courses can be viewed at the top of each section of the Data Literacy Roadmap.
