Snowbird 9 – Opposing Solo, Canadian Forces Snowbirds
Captain Patrice Powis-Clement was raised on St Joseph Island, Ontario, where he developed a passion for flying at a young age. After completing Royal Canadian Air Cadets, he enrolled in the Sault College Aviation Technology Program where he obtained a Commercial Pilot licence.
After graduating in 2011, Captain Powis-Clement joined the Canadian Armed Forces under the Regular Officer Training Plan. He attended the Royal Military College of Canada, graduating in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
Following his arrival at 15 Wing Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, he completed flight training on the CT-156 Harvard II and CT-155 Hawk. He was then posted to the 2 Canadian Forces Flight Training School where he became a senior instructor, training new instructors on the Harvard II.
Captain Powis-Clement joined the Canadian Forces Snowbirds in 2020 and brings over 3,000 hours flying experience in ejection seat aircraft to the team.
This is his fourth season on the team and first year flying the number 9 Jet as Opposing Solo.
