Honorary Colonel Geoffery Goodyear

Mr Geoffery Goodyear, former President/ CEO of Universal Helicopters, was appointed Honorary Colonel of 5 Wing Goose Bay, NL on 18 May 2016.
Honorary Colonel Goodyear is a well-known and highly respected member of the Happy Vallety community. He has been a helicopter pilot for 37 years flying in Newfoundland and Labrador, the arctic and Greenland. He recently retired as the President and CEO of Universal Helicopters Newfoundland and Labrador LP. During his tenure with Universal he was the recipient of Transport Canada’s "Aviation Safety Award" and the inaugural recipient of Eurocopter Canada’s “Innovation in Safety” award. He is currently a columnist for the internationally published Vertical Magazine on safety matters concerning the helicopter industry.
Throughout his aviation career, Honorary Colonel Goodyear has also served as the Chair of the Helicopter Association of Canada and the Chair of the NavCanada Advisory Committee.
Honorary Colonel Goodyear is a former officer in the Royal Newfoundland Regiment. He served with B Company Second Battalion from 1974 to 1983.
Honorary Colonel Goodyear is the co-founder of the Labrador Peregrine Falcon Monitoring Program and currently serves on the board of the Labrador North Chamber of Commerce, the board of the Battle Harbour Historic Trust and is the current President of the Happy Valley-Goose Bay Rotary Club.
In conjunction with the Nunatsiavut Government, Honorary Colonel Goodyear has recently published a book of photographs of Labrador’s Inuit homelands. Honorary Colonel Goodyear is married to Alison Goodyear ( nee Lunnen).
