2 Canadian Air Division Chief Warrant Officer
Born in North Bay, Ontario, Chief Warrant Officer Rusconi enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in April 1997 with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI). Following his graduation from Battle School in Wainwright, Alberta, he was posted to 1 PPCLI in Edmonton, Alberta.
He had two domestic deployments with 1 PPCLI on Op GRIZZLY and Op RECUPERATION, and one overseas deployment in Bosnia on Op PALLADIUM. While in Bosnia in 2003, he was accepted for a voluntary occupational transfer to Meteorological Technician (Met Tech).
Since becoming a Met Tech, he has worked in a variety of positions and environments providing meteorological support to the Royal Canadian Air Force and Canadian Army. His first assignment as a Met Tech was as a Weather Observer at 4 Wing Cold Lake, Alberta, then Observer Supervisor after being promoted to Master Corporal in 2005. In 2006, he was posted to Shilo, Manitoba as the Ballistic Meteorological Section Second in Command. Upon completion of specialist training he began an eight-month tour to Afghanistan on Op ATHENA, where he provided ballistic meteorological support to the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery and the United States Army.
Upon return from tour in 2008, he was promoted to Sergeant and posted to the Canadian Forces School of Meteorology (CFS MET) as an instructor, specializing in teaching meteorological theory. While there, he completed his Forecaster course and was subsequently promoted to Warrant Officer in 2011.
He successfully completed second language training and was subsequently posted to the Joint Meteorological Centre (JMC) in Gagetown, New Brunswick, as the Expeditionary Warrant Officer, responsible for Force Generation for all domestic and deployed operations. He remained in that position until he was promoted to Master Warrant Officer (MWO) where he was employed as the JMC Operations MWO, from 2014 to 2016.
In 2016, he was honoured to be selected and posted to the United States Air Force Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Academy as the Canadian Liaison and Instructor at Maxwell Air Force Base-Gunter Annex in Montgomery, Alabama. He was responsible for delivering the Advanced Leadership Experience curriculum and acted as an advisor to the Commandant. While there he was promoted to Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) in July 2019 and was posted back to the JMC as the Unit Chief Warrant Officer.
In 2021, CWO Rusconi was privileged to be chosen for a senior appointment and posted to Borden, Ontario as the 16 Wing Chief Warrant Officer. On April 11, 2024, he was honoured to be appointed as the 2 Canadian Air Division Chief Warrant Officer in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
