HMCS Belleville (K332)

Commissioned at Kingston, Ontario on October 19, 1944, the Flower class corvette HMCS Belleville visited the Ontario port for which she was named before leaving for Halifax, Nova Scotia, arriving in early November. HMCS Belleville continued fitting out at Halifax until mid-January, and then sailed to Bermuda for a month’s working up.

Further repairs followed on her return, after which she was allocated to Escort Group C-5, leaving St. John’s, Newfoundland, on March 28, 1945, to join her first convoy, HX.346. She made 3 transatlantic crossings before war’s end, leaving Londonderry, Northern Ireland, for the last time at the beginning of June 1945.

She was paid off on July 5, 1945, and placed in reserve at Sorel, Quebec, until 1947, when she was sold to the Dominican Republic and renamed Juan Bautista Cambiaso. She was broken up in 1972.
