Summerside Seafood Supreme creating new culinary products for International Markets

Securing new markets and growing an innovative seafood industry in Summerside, PEI, with the help of the Government of Canada

For thirty years, Summerside Seafood Supreme has been a leader in the Atlantic Canadian seafood industry by developing new products and finding new markets for Prince Edward Island’s iconic shellfish. Adapting new technologies and understanding consumer trends have been key to the ongoing success of the company operating out of Summerside, PEI.

An innovative approach and a deep connection to the value of Atlantic Canada’s food resources is propelling food companies across the Atlantic region into global markets.

Bobby Morrissey, Member of Parliament for Egmont, today announced funding of $1.5 million to support Summerside Seafood Supreme as it invests in specialized equipment to create new table-ready seafood products for growing export markets. This investment is being made through ACOA’s Business Development Program, which helps businesses looking to modernize and expand. The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages.

The food industry is one of many vibrant sectors where businesses in rural and urban areas of Atlantic Canada continue to demonstrate world class leadership and forward thinking. The Government of Canada will continue to invest in innovative companies across the East Coast working to compete in global markets, and grow a local economy based on the distinct strengths and resources of the region.
